Lace And Steel in Brooklyn

Our upcoming November exhibition at The Edge Art Space, is something we feel incredibly excited about. Not simply because the two media involved are so inexorably yet impossibly linked through sheer irony, but because the two very different contributing artists are actually uniting in one brilliantly enigmatic exhibition.
This exhibition opening on November 18th will be a delight for patrons.

Referencing LACE at its most restless and provocative best, is Barbara Gebhart.
Austrian born Barbara, has an impressive body of work representing the conflict between the emerging role of women as strong, capable and powerful, and their more primal role of delicacy and sensuality.

These two contrary roles are about as different as Lace and Steel.
No matter how far women have evolved, Barbara sees them as, by necessity, remaining in touch with the historically erotic and provocative aspects of their gender without subordinating themselves or sacrificing their freedom.

Her honest portrayal of modern woman, and her ability to use lace so symbolically, indicates that for her there is freedom and independence whilst remaining true to 'the sisterhood'.
Her work is beautiful. Her subject matter is brilliant. Her message is clear.

WOMANHOOD CONTINUES TO EVOLVE.
